Semi Permanent Makeup FAQs
What is microblading?
Microblading is a form of cosmetic semi permanent brow makeup. It is an extremely detailed and artistic manual process that takes around two hours to complete. A handheld tool, with a fine blade, is used to create natural hair-like strokes to the eyebrow while depositing pigments into the skin. The procedure is designed to yield long-lasting results - up to two years before beginning to fade. Technicians must be well-trained, insured, and certified in the state of Colorado. Mooi’s microblading expert, Erla, has over 20 years of experience as a permanent makeup artist.
Microblading Procedure:
To begin, the technician will apply a topical numbing cream to the brow area to minimize discomfort. They will then color-match pigment and discuss the desired brow shape, taking special care to complement your unique facial features. Once the brows and the shape are drawn on the skin, you will examine it closely to make sure everything meets your expectations. If not, we are happy to make any changes you request. Before the microblading process begins, we will go over any questions you may have from the release form and microblading aftercare handout. After 15-20 minutes the brows will be completely numb and the procedure will begin.
The microblading process will last about 45 minutes. During this time, a second topical anesthetic liquid is applied 2-4 times, keeping the process as comfortable as possible with as little discomfort necessary. Once the procedure is complete, we will show the client their new permanent eyebrows and make necessary adjustments and additions.
A follow-up “touchup” appointment will be set 4-6 weeks following the first appointment.
What is Semi Permanent Eyeliner?
Semi-permanent eyeliner, or "eyeliner tattoo" as it is commonely referred to, is a cosmetic procedure that involves the application of pigment to the skin around the eyes to create a long-lasting eyeliner effect. Unlike traditional eyeliner, which needs to be reapplied daily, semi-permanent eyeliner can last anywhere from one to three years, depending on skin type, care, and the inks used. The process typically involves a tattooing technique, where a small needle inserts pigment into the upper layer of the skin. This method can enhance the natural shape of the eyes, add definition, and eliminate the need for daily makeup application.
Semi Permanent Eyeliner Procedure:
First, a consultation is conducted to discuss the desired eyeliner style, color, and thickness. Next, a numbing cream is applied to minimize discomfort. The technician then uses a handheld tool to implant pigment into the skin along the lash line, which may take one to two hours depending on the complexity of the design.
Clients will experience some swelling and redness post-procedure, which typically subsides within a few days. It's normal for the pigment to appear darker initially but will soften as it heals. A touch-up appointment is often recommended within six to eight weeks to perfect the look. Overall, the procedure aims to enhance eye definition with long-lasting results, often lasting one to three years, with proper aftercare being essential for optimal healing and color retention.
What is Semi Permanent Lip Liner?
Semi-permanent lip liner is a cosmetic procedure that involves tattooing pigment onto the lips to define their shape and enhance their color. This technique creates a long-lasting outline that can last from one to three years, reducing the need for daily application of traditional lip liner or lipstick.
Semi Permanent Lip Liner Procedure:
The process begins with a consultation to discuss the client's desired look, including color and shape preferences. The technician will also provide their expert recommendations on the best style to complement your natural features. Before the procedure, a numbing cream is applied to minimize discomfort.
Using a specialized, handheld tool, the technician then carefully implants the pigment along the lip line. The procedure usually takes about one to two hours, depending on the complexity of the design. After the procedure, clients may experience some swelling and tenderness, which typically resolves within a few days. The initial color may appear darker but will soften as the lips heal. A follow-up appointment is often recommended six to eight weeks later for touch-ups to achieve the desired effect. Aftercare is crucial to ensure proper healing and vibrant results, which can last between one to three years.
